DRIFT is a focus timer for iPhone. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, what it does not, and who else is involved. It covers the DRIFT iOS app and nothing else.
DRIFT has no accounts and no servers of our own. Your focus sessions, history, settings, and the list of apps you choose to block never leave your device. The one exception is advertising: the free version shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, and Google collects data in order to serve them. Paying to remove ads stops that.
| Data | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Session history (durations, completed or ended early) | On your device only |
| Preferences (length, colour, language) | On your device only |
| The apps, categories, and websites you choose to block | On your device only |
The apps you select are handled by Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. iOS gives DRIFT only opaque tokens, not names or usage figures — the app cannot see which apps you picked, cannot read your usage statistics, and has no way to transmit either. These tokens are stored in a private app group shared only between DRIFT and its own two extensions.
Deleting DRIFT deletes all of it. There is no backup on our side, because there is no our side.
The free version displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, Google may collect and process device and usage information, including advertising identifiers, IP address, device type and operating system, and interactions with the ads shown.
Google acts as an independent controller of that data. Its handling is governed by Google's own policies:
Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, DRIFT presents Google's certified consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before requesting any ad, and your choice is respected on every subsequent request.
App Tracking Transparency. Where iOS requires it, DRIFT asks for permission before any tracking across apps and websites. If you decline, ads still appear but are not personalised.
Removing ads. A one-time in-app purchase removes advertising permanently. Once purchased, DRIFT stops initialising the ad SDK and stops requesting ads.
The in-app purchase is processed entirely by Apple. DRIFT receives only whether the purchase is active — never your name, payment details, or Apple Account. We cannot see who bought anything.
DRIFT can send local notifications when a session ends or a temporary pass expires. These are generated on your device and are never sent through a server.
DRIFT contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, and no first-party network calls of any kind. Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash and usage reports if you have opted into sharing them with developers in iOS Settings; we cannot identify you from those.
DRIFT is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. The app uses Family Controls only so that the owner of the device can restrict their own use — it is not a parental-control product and has no supervision features.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated and the revised version published here before the change takes effect.
